Biography

Dr. Evangelatos is a Critical Care Medicine Specialist and an Internal Medicine Specialist from Greece. Prior to coming to Toronto he worked at the ICU of the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Allergology and Sleep Medicine, Paracelsus Medical University (PMU), Nuremberg, Germany. He also hold the Dr. TMA Pai Endowment Chair in ‘Research Policy in Biomedical Sciences and Public Health’, Prasanna School of Public Health (PSPH), at Manipal Academy of Higher Education in India and am affiliated researcher with Maastricht University (UNU-MERIT) in the Netherlands.

Besides my Medical degree he hold two Master degrees in ‘History and Philosophy of Science and Technology’ (University of Athens, Greece) and in ‘European Studies in Science, Technology and Society’ (University of Lund, Sweden). Furthermore, He has obtained a DMSc in Medicine (University of Athens, Greece) and a PhD in ‘Public Health Genomics’ (Maastricht University, the Netherlands).

Area of interests /Research
My research interests focus on Echocardiography in Critical Care, ECLS, and Solid Organ and Stem Cell Transplant Critical Care. I am also interested in science and technology policy in the digital era. More specifically, I study the impact of ‘-omics’ and Big data on the research, economic, and social landscape in Biomedicine/Critical Care Medicine with a focus on the emergence of information commons.
