Bio
Dr. Ian Randall completed his BASc in civil and environmental engineering at the University of British Columbia. Following graduation, he worked in public health and water engineering in central Africa, after which he attended medical school at the University of Toronto.
He also completed his residencies in anesthesiology and critical care medicine at the University of Toronto, and completed a fellowship in cardiovascular anesthesiology, TEE and critical care at Toronto General Hospital. He has obtained testamurs in perioperative TEE and critical care echo from the American Society of Echocardiography, and is certified in neurocritical care by the United Council of Neurologic Subspecialties.
He has an MPH with a focus on epidemiology. He is cofounder and medical director of Canada’s largest multidisciplinary perioperative prehabilitation program, based at the University Health Network. This clinical program serves high-risk patients, receiving referrals from multiple surgical subspecialties, and features a robust research program with numerous research trainees. He is acting as program director for the TWH MSNICU simulation fellowship, and is a member of Medecins Sans Frontieres Canada.
He holds the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and the Interdepartmental Division of Critical Care Medicine. He is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education.
