The MSICU Social Worker assesses the complex psychosocial needs of patients and their families and provides support and counselling to reduce the distress associated with critical illness. As a social worker in the MSICU, I can help clarify potential misperceptions, enhancing communication among patients, their families, and the medical team members. I also have expertise in helping SDMs discern their loved one’s wishes for goals of care based on the patient’s values, beliefs and life goals.
