Biography

Dr. Ratano is from an Italian decent but was born in Switzerland. He studied at Lausanne University School of Medicine from where he graduated in 2007. He completed his internal medicine specialty in 2014 and his critical care specialty in 2017. His main interest in critical care is the anticoagulation of critically ill patients and he has completed MD-thesis work on this subject (manuscript under review). He is coming to Toronto to pursue a research track focusing on the monitoring of anticoagulation in ECMO patients. His other fields of interest in critical care are hemodynamics, echocardiography, and bedside teaching.
